Meet-ups

Going to try and track some day to day events just for Grants interest. Something he can read one day when he's married and about to have a baby.  Maybe it will inspire him, give him ideas, or just bring fond memories of things we did.

Joined a Meet-up Group here in Long Beach where we reside. Haven't kept up with this list but we have play dates all the time. Grant is in Preschool without walls that is bilingual. We take advantage of music class at the Air Force Base

09.24.13  Beach - Dipping our toes in the water and running from the waves. You saw the beach and ran the entire way down the hill to get to it.

09.19.13 Froggs Bounce House -

8.18.13 Parent and Me Preschool for Toddlers - A 2 hour long class that consists of mostly playtime and interacting with other children. They have different activities every week that include painting, crafts, playing with toys, story and song time. The parents leave for about 30 minutes to discuss topics while aids assist the children. I always come back and Grant is playing in the cars you can drive as happy as can be.

7.16.13 Parent/Preschool Swim - Just finished and received our 2nd badge at swimming. This is actually Grants 4th swim session lessons. He is able to kick, paddle, get out of the pool and remembers all the songs when we sing them at home. He isn't ready to swim without help but he loves the water! He's the wildest one there splashing and laughing.

5.23.13 CDI Learning Center -

5.21.13 - Travel Town - Choo Choo trains! No horses yet, but a train ride is always a must.  He says "All aboard!"

05.04.13 Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve - Walked a trail discovering nature for almost 2 hours. Birds, bunnies, bees, geese, squirrels and sycamore trees glistening in the wind.

05.03.13 Acura - Audition for TV looking for a wobbly walker.  Grant has been walking a long time so wobbly doesn't describe him but who knows things could change. He didn't do too bad, I had him chase a ball and his toy car from corner to corner while being video taped.

04.12.13 North Hollywood Library- 3-4 books interspersed with songs and props followed by passing out stickers at the end. The sticker is such a great ending, the kids including Grant can't wait to get in line and wait for one.

04.12.13 Kick & Play- Pre soccer training learning to use the lower parts of his body. Kicking and tapping his foot. Following instructions and scoring goals!

04.08.13 Rosebowl Aquatics - one month of parent/intermediate swim lessons.  Learning to climb out of the pool, arm strokes, kicks and fun songs. Earned a badge and moving on to parent/preschool lessons.

04.01.13 Easter - Spent it at Grandma and Grandpa's house.  We played in the park, mostly the swings. Then took a long dip in the pool. In fact it was a fight to get Grant out of the water after more than an hour. He loves the pool. And a nice egg hunt on the front lawn.

03.28.13 Easter Event w Valley Moms - Great event at a home in Reseda with a pool. I stress the pool because as it turns out Grant was the only walker there among several children. I didn't get to visit much following Grant back and forth to avoid the pool but it was a great event.  She had bunny party favors, lunch and an Easter egg hunt for the little ones.

03.25.13 Music and Movement - a Valley Moms event near a playground.  We missed out on the entire thing, the playground was much more interesting to Grant.

03.19.13 Tide- Went on an audition for print work. The last couple of times the camera men have scared Grant but this time he was calm but a little unsure of what was happening.  We did get a couple shots but when asked to sit on the couch it frightened him or he just didn't want to. At least he is warming up to the camera.

03.18.13 Melody Music - We had an opportunity to try out a free music class with children Grants age and younger.  It was a privately owned, held in a little white chapel and the instructor was amazing.  She had so much energy and expression as she sang songs and surprised everyone with all sorts of props. Grant didn't get into it until the very end when they brought out instruments. He enjoyed banging on the drums.

03.16.13 - Swimming - We haven't been swimming since last Summer but as soon as Grant saw the pool he wanted in and was ready to splash.  Glad to see this since I'll be signing him up for intermediate mommy and me swim in a couple of weeks. We went swimming with the Helring girls, Grant loves playing with them.

03.12.13 Sherman Oaks Library - We went to a wonderful story time where the story teller dressed up, got the children involved, had props and was extremely animated. Enough to keep almost any child's attention. Our little bundle of energy wanted to crawl under the tables and run in and out of the library and through the bicycle stands outside and everywhere in between. I'm trying to instill wanting to read for the future but I guess he's not an age yet where he can sit still.

03.07.13  Laurel Plaza Library -Walked to story time at the Library with dad. You hadn't had a nap all day which has never happened but you were in good spirits. After about 15 minutes of story time you didn't want to sit still and decided to run up and down the isle's in the library.  When I caught you, we left and let you run off your energy in the park. Dad pointed out several squirrels and you chased them from tree to tree laughing.

03.06.13 CDI Early Learning Center- 1st time going and its too bad its so far from home because its the most interactive place I've seen yet.  There was a large tree house with stairs up one side and a slide down the other.  You ran back and forth thru the tree the most.  You stopped at the easel to color for a moment, the magnetic wall to spin the flowers, coloring table, music box and train station. We were there for a total of 2 hours. You are very gentle and friendly with other children and even though you are a ball of energy at home, when you are out you can be a huge observer.

03.05.13 Creative Experience Meet-up at Valley College - We got there late because you napped late but I wanted to make sure you were able to interact with children your age.  Its a small space unless they open the play area outside and today was too cold.  We met a nice lady and her 2 kids that were playing with leaves. They brought you a leaf to play with them and encouraged you to run along the yellow path with them pretending it was a school bus.

03.02.13 Story Time at Barnes and Noble in Studio City - Very animated story teller that kept your attention for several books.  Afterwards we shopped for a couple new board books for home.  We purchased Planes, Wake Up and Pookie Dance. We live under a flight path and you are always pointing out planes so I thought a plane book would keep your attention. We have several bed time books but now we have a wake-up book where we yawn, stretch, shimmy and touch our toes and you love it.  And the Pookie Dance is about marching, hopping and singing so I'm hoping you'll follow my lead and have some fun while reading our books in the fort in your room.  Right now the fort is fun to run in and out of, the intention was to have a place to read and relax but you have way too much energy to consider relaxing.
