I'm 2

I'm 2 and I have lots of favorites already.  I love to get behind a wheel and drive.  I point out tractors, trucks, jeeps and garbage trucks all day long.  The bigger the better I guess.  When I'm not driving I enjoy playing in the sand at the beach, eating ice cream on a hot day, climbing at the park, chasing my kitty, and acting silly. I'd rather be outside than anywhere and I love making friends. I'm a little ball of energy and I love to be chased, play hide and seek, peek a boo, and jump all over my parents like a wild animal.  Curious George is my favorite cartoon.  So much my favorite its the only cartoon I will watch.  It has lots of animals and puppies are my favorite. Mommy says I give the best hugs ever but what she doesn't know is I give them when I've done something I shouldn't be doing and it somehow makes it all better :) I'm a healthy eater, love broccoli and picking the cranberries out of mommies salads. I can drink smoothies and eat yogurt all day long if my parents would let me. I don't like my clothes messed with and I'll run from you if you try. If I'm wearing clothes leave me alone and if I'm not leave me alone, I don't want to be changed. I'm a pretty happy guy, very curious and I ask what everything is at this stage.

Grants 2nd birthday
Blowing out candles, playing with his new tractor and garbage truck, and reading a book.  We had planned to go to Disneyland for the 1st time and found out I think the day before that the government shut down puting a stop to that and both of Dave's jobs. Thankfully he is working again so Disneyland is back on the table for December.

A Fall list of things to do from Pinterest. Framed and checked off with a dry erase marker
BaNilla's
Spread peanut butter on each mini Nilla wafer, place a slice of banana in between and roll in sprinkles. Sweet snack with protein and potassium.

Chef Grant taking the broken eggs and throwing them into my pie mixture.  He was also playing with the measuring cups and sink water and poured some in the mixture. Pie's came out ok, must of needed his secret ingredients.

First time on a pony, not exactly thrilled but not terrified. He loves horses from a safe distance
Started painting Frankenstein but more interested in playing with the kids so I finished it.  But he did the cotton ball ghost all by himself.

Playing in the corn box with his friend Caleb who just turned 1 years old. The kids loved this, pouring it down their shirts and making corn angels and burying themselves.

Carved our pumpkins with a drill.  1st one went bad in a couple of weeks so we made another.  For those of you who watch the Mentalist its Red John.  Grant is stamping all the pumpkin guts and making a mess with the seeds flying all over but he's having fun.
Last minute decision to dress up using only the things we had in our closet. Dave is a dark Elmer Fudd hunting bunny rabbits.
Using only what we had in our closet this year since Grant isn't old enough to know super heros yet or understand wearing costumes we dressed him punk rock.  Sprayed his hair blue, tore his jeans and used safety pins and a skull T-shirt.  I was 80's from the Valley like totally. Went to an event in Mission Viejo with our friends where you can see booths were set up to trick o treat.  Grant did great saying Trick o Treat and thank you.

The kids watched this black cat rise out of a pumpkin for a while.  It was so cute to see their reactions.  Grant was unsure about it at first and then loved it and giggled and didn't want to leave.

More DIY

A couple of weeks us ago the girls got together and made homemade salts and sugar scrubs with coconut oil  and essential scented oils and its amazing! I'll never buy salt scrub again now that I can create it for almost nothing.  So put in your xmas requests :)  Also, I ran across a recipe for DIY laundry detergent.  I tested it out with Grants clothes first because there is always a crusty food stain and it came out clean and smelling fresh.  Its suppose to be a years supply and it cost me $17.00 thanks to the commissary which is unfortunately closed now due to the government shutdown. I decided on the dry version of laundry detergent so that I wouldn't have to shake numerous bottles with sediment. Here's the link I used:

Brown sugar and also a salt and white sugar scrub. Eucalyptus and linen, I like a clean spa scent

My helper puting it in the food processor

Made 3 of these containers and you use 2 tablespoons in each load.

Dipping our Toes

We are transportation less again. There always seems to be something going on with our cars if you know us well.  The other night someone hit my parked car along with 2 others and I'm waiting to hear if they will be totaling out my older but new to me car. So in the meantime Grant and I walked down to the beach just to dip our toes in the water and play in the sand.  We weren't planning to lay out, just looking for something to do that is close by.

Running away from the waves before they got his feet

We passed the point of dipping our toes, notice he is soaked.

Froggs Bounce House

I love this place!  My first thought is ewwww, its going to have germs and stains and grime everywhere but when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised.  There are huge cushy couches and lounge chairs and its easy to sit and get comfy and still have eye contact with your child.  ITS CLEAN! The true test is you have to wear socks and my socks were still white afterwards. It might just be cleaner than my house....haha. It took Grant a little bit to want to bounce but once he got into it we had a blast.  I got a little work out bouncing around.  Again, who has the better time, Grant or me? I love doing all this silly stuff. We went with a meet up group from Long Beach and the girls are all really nice and I will be doing lots more with them.

Cars are 1st and foremost always!

Obviously blurry but just wanted to show you how cool the inside of the bouncy house was

DIY

Do it yourself (DIY) or what I like to call it Design on a Dime. I don't usually like to do projects because I don't like an inexpensive look but for renting purposes I'm all for it.  I don't know how many of you use Pinterest but its great for anything and everything. I've found great recipes shared on line, tricks to cover my old and too small medicine cabinet and a little book nook for Grant so far. We have a walk in closet that is in the Dining room and as you can see who wants to eat dinner and look into a mess even an organized mess.  So I decided to frost the windows using a thin line of electrical tape around the edges for a more interesting look because I couldn't find painters tape thin enough. Its a little more difficult to work with because it stretches and I've heard you can buy thin line at an automotive store.  Frost paint dries in 10 min which is great because I'm very impatient even at a nail salon I wait about 3 min and go! Which is also why I didn't go gallivanting around town looking for thin painters tape and went for whatever I found at Home Depot. I actually decided not to cover any of the beams either since they were already white I figured the spray over if any wouldn't change the color. Gosh I sound like an impatient person, maybe just a little bit. We are renting and the frost paint will scrape off with a razor blade if we need to remove it.  With all the spray paint I've been using I can see why they lock it up, its addicting.  I want to spray everything now, accent knobs, maybe his toddler bed, I don't know.

Spice rack from IKEA $3.99
Books seem more interesting when you can see the covers

Covered old medicine cabinet with a mirror using picture wire.  It still opens and is usable
