Our new Jeep |
|
Purchased the jeep from "The Joker" |
I've slid down ski runs without ski's out of control and jumped out of airplanes but I've never done anything as thrilling and terrifying as off roading. Dave absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back and me I'm seriously wondering if I'll ever have the courage to do it again. I guess the worst thing that could of happened is tipping over in a wedged in canyon which we almost did but the feeling of being on 2 wheels for even a second is gnarly! Heart stopping moments followed by "YES, we made it, that was awesome!" Grant also loved bumping around and even exaggerated his movements from side to side. We left at 8am to meet the group at 10am, and trail blazed till 5pm. It takes a lot of time to run through the trails because some moments need guidance while others need rock bridges built to help you get over rocks without getting stuck or breaking something. And then there are the moments where someone actually breaks a drive shaft and has to be towed or fixed. By the end of the day I was so excited to see smooth paved road after 7 hours of off roading. Here's what our fearless leader wrote:
I would like to mention of the more memorable events of the day:
1) Oscar flipped and layed the FJ on it's side on the way down from the mountain, at night and in the dark, but survived with just a dent and a scratched...
2) Tony snapped his drive shaft trying to go up the mountain... that's twice cleghorn has defeated Tony... 3rd time is a charm I am sure
3) 1st timers were exposed to some triple black diamond situations and navigated them well !
All in all a great day !

Our 1st jeep club "Ohana Trails" in Hawaii but we never went off roading. Ours is the white jeep in the front left. |

Grant telling daddy to sit in the back so he could pretend to drive. We were at the meet-up waiting for the rest of the group. |

On our way up the winding trail |
|
This guy broke his drive shaft early on and had to turn back. He was leading the easy group us and 2 others so after he broke down we had to go to the next degree of difficulty. |
|
He's getting towed out |
|
Parked for lunch |
|
UP the hill we go |
|
Notice the rock on the left that says "Do Not go this way or you will DIE!" |
|
Its about to get scary, just a little steep |
|
Guiding us through the bumps, it gets really narrow and steep |
|
M & M break |

There we are at the very bottom, right |

This Suzuki was awesome and fearless lol. It went everywhere. New found respect for this little jeep as big as a matchbox car |

Building a bridge of rocks so he could go up and over without getting stuck |
